Some people are out there living their best lives. They're living in a comfortable lifestyle with a high paying job, a good house, and wealth that is enough to support their needs and occasionally their wants. But how about those people who don't live a life like theirs? Could there be a way to reverse their quality of life if it has reached its worst?
A lot of people are unable to
acquire a good occupation. It could be caused by several reasons. If people,
especially parents, can't get good paying jobs or any jobs in general, they are
likely to struggle with acquiring basic needs in order to survive. In addition
to that, they cannot provide their family with any support.
Being unoccupied can be caused by
many reasons. Those reasons include poverty and inaccessibility. Some parents
are unoccupied because they have various tasks to do as plain housewives. They
have children to feed, take care of, and look after. Those reasons mentioned
are only some of many.
Sometimes, when applying for a job, there
might be some equipment or materials that are required. Poverty or lack of
money might hold someone back from acquiring those requirements. And if those
requirements aren't filled, there is a possibility that they won't be hired. If
they are lucky, the employer still might consider hiring them. However, that is
quite unlikely.
Aside from poverty,
inaccessibility is also another reason for being unemployed. If you live in an
area with little to no nearby establishments or businesses, then it would be
hard for you to find a job. Moving to a place where it's easy to find a job
would still be an issue because you would have to worry about where to stay and
how to adjust to a new place.
Igpit, a town in Digos City, is
surrounded by poverty. Some families have only one working parent while the
other parent deals with their children and other tasks like cleaning the house.
Jane Verano and Cyril Tabernero are mothers of two students that are studying
in Igpit Elementary School. They are plain housewives. Their husbands have jobs
but they don't.
After getting modules for their children
from school, Jane Verano and Cyril Tabernero are left with nearly nothing to
do. They have plenty of free time to do what they want. Usually, they spend
their time playing cards and gossiping. They rely on their husbands to do their
work and provide their family with needs. However, ever since the pandemic
started, they began to lose their jobs.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused
many people to become unemployed or unoccupied, including Jane's husband and
Cyril's husband. Fortunately for them, the teachers from Igpit Elementary
School have decided to take action. The teachers came together and planned a
solution for that issue. Even through the setbacks that the pandemic caused,
they still managed to commit to their plans. The
Igpit Elementary School teachers
decided to make an income generating program. This program allows the extremely
poor and jobless parents to earn money by working. To help support this
program, they initiated the "Gulayan sa Paaralan" wherein you can
plant and take care of crops and plants in the school. Teachers offered this
job to the parents that were desperately in need of money, including Jane
Verano and Cyril Tabernero.
The income generating program
certainly made parents like Jane and Cyril spend their free time wisely. They
have found better ways to spend their free time other than playing cards and
gossiping. Their bad habits have now been replaced with something beneficial.
Moreover, they can earn money for the benefit of their families such as
educational support, food, and more.
A lot of people are currently
living the life of luxury. It consists of beautiful homes, high technology
cars, home-cooked food, and overall an amazing life. On the other hand, there
are people who are the poorest of the poor. Life in their point of view is
nothing compared to those luxurious lives. Nevertheless, even a simple act of
help and kindness can turn frowns upside down. Turns out, there is a way to
reverse the quality of one's life when it's at its worst.
